where can we invest a child trust fund?

my granddaughters trust fund has lost money, we invested it in the halifax but thought it would gain interest but we seem to have made a mistake anybody know of a better bank or building society.

We have put our one into Nationwide. We did a lot of search before hand and found that Nationwide was the best out of all as it is a Building sociaty.
