$74.88

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Finance is a board game originally released in 1932 by Knapp Electric and later reissued by Parker Brothers. The game, similar to Monopoly, is based on The Landlords Game in the movement of pieces around the board, the use of Chance cards (although not Community Chest cards), properties that can be purchased, and houses that can be erected on them. Unlike Monopoly, there are no monopolies (such as Boardwalk and Park Place) on the board and players may erect houses after traveling around the board once. The game also has railroads, however these may not be purchased. The game is actually a predecessor to Monopoly. In finance, a warrant is a security that entitles the holder to buy the underlying stock of the issuing company at a fixed exercise price until the expiry date.Warrants and options are similar in that the two contractual financial instruments allow the holder special rights to buy securities. Both are discretionary and have expiration dates. The word warrant simply means to endow with the right, which is only slightly different to the meaning of an option.Warrants are frequently attached to bonds or preferred stock as a sweetener, allowing the issuer to pay lower interest rates or dividends. They can be used to enhance the yield of the bond, and make them more attractive to potential buyers. Warrants can also be used in private equity deals. Frequently, these warrants are detachable, and can be sold independently of the bond or stock. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Aircraft Finance by Evelyn, Columba Sara [Paperback]

Aircraft Finance by Evelyn, Columba Sara [Paperback]

$65.33

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Aircraft finance refers to financing for the purchase and operation of aircraft. Complex aircraft finance shares many characteristics with maritime finance, and to a lesser extent with project finance. Aircraft are expensive. A Boeing 737700, the type Southwest or Ryanair uses, is priced in 2008 USD in the range of 58.5 69.5 million. Airlines also typically have low margins so very few airlines can afford to pay cash for all their fleet. Commercial aircraft, such as those operated by airlines, use more sophisticated leases and debt financing schemes. The three most common schemes for financing commercial aircraft are secured lending, operating leasing and finance leasing. Stock returns are a significant predictor of future capital investment growth and even predict investment growth better than Tobins q. Since the capital investment decision process is fundamental to corporate finance, understanding the potential factors that drive the ability of returns to predict investment might increase our understanding of investment frictions such as agency costs, financing constraints and managerial myopia. Current explanations for the correlation between stock returns and investment growth include: timevarying discount rates that affect both stock returns and investment causing returns and investment to be correlated over time, and firm profits which are correlated with both investment decisions and stock returns. In Chapter 1, I test whether financing constraints, managerial myopia and agency costs of free cash flows affect the sensitivity of investment growth to returns, and find that of these investment frictions it is financing constraints that significantly impact how investment reacts to stock returns. In Chapter 2, I compare the extent to which factors associated with timevarying discount rates explain fluctuations in capital investment growth and use this relationship to test whether the size and value factors proxy for risk in discount rates. Results indicate that the traditional proxies for discounts rates predict capital investment growth. I find evidence that the size factor behaves like a discount rate proxy by predicting investment growth, while the value factor does not. In finance, interest rate immunization is a strategy that ensures that a change in interest rates will not affect the value of a portfolio. Similarly, immunization can be used to ensure that the value of a pension funds or a firms assets will increase or decrease in exactly the opposite amount of their liabilities, thus leaving the value of the pension funds surplus or firms equity unchanged, regardless of changes in the interest rate. Interest rate immunization can be accomplished by several methods, including cash flow matching, duration matching, and volatility and convexity matching. It can also be accomplished by trading in bond forwards, futures, or options. In finance, a long position in a security, such as a stock or a bond, or equivalently to be long in a security, means the holder of the position owns the security and will profit if the price of the security goes up. Going long is the more conventional practice of investing and is contrasted with going short. Similarly, a long position in a futures contract or similar derivative means that the holder of the position will profit if the price of the futures contract or derivative goes up. Note that it is important to consider the value of the option, not the value of the underlying instrument, as the value of a put option will increase when the value of the underlying instrument decreases. This is in contrast to short selling. Author: Bert, Adam Cornelius Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 80 Publication Date: 2011/06/16 Language: English Dimensions: 9.02 x 5.98 x 0.19 inches

Bond (Finance)

Bond (Finance)

$92.4

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In finance, a bond is a debt security, in which the authorized issuer owes the holders a debt and, depending on the terms of the bond, is obliged to pay interest (the coupon) and/or to repay the principal at a later date, termed maturity. A bond is a formal contract to repay borrowed money with interest at fixed intervals. Thus a bond is like a loan: the issuer is the borrower (debtor), the holder is the lender (creditor), and the coupon is the interest. Bonds provide the borrower with external funds to finance longterm investments, or, in the case of government bonds, to finance current expenditure. Certificates of deposit (CDs) or commercial paper are considered to be money market instruments and not bonds. Bonds must be repaid at fixed intervals over a period of time. Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas bondholders have a creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have a defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding indefinitely.
